ATTIE | Reserve & Maintenance Manager

Attie Oosthuize is our Reserve & Maintenance manager and has been part of the Tomjachu family for 3.5 years. Attie is responsible for the management of the nature reserve, including wildlife management, fences, roads, water, and invasive species control.

Attie and his team also take care of maintaining the property to ensure the whole reserve is always in pristine condition.

What would Attie recommend at Tomjachu?

“I would say going for a nice hike and taking a picnic to enjoy at one of the beautiful picnic spots on the property. And to have a braai at the new braai spot at South Dam and enjoy a bit of fishing.”

MARINUS | Field Guide

Marinus Cordier is the Tomjachu Field Guide and engaged to Abigail, and together they are the Management Support couple at Tomjachu. Marinus has been with us for 7 months and is responsible for all of the nature based activities at Tomjachu, such as Guided Bushwalks, Nature Drives, and Bush Dinners.

He is also in charge of maintaining all of the hiking trails, picnic sites and bush areas and assists the farm manager with general maintenance, conservation field work (such as controlled burning), animal and wildlife welfare and data collection.

What would Marinus recommend at Tomjachu?

“ I would recommend making the effort to get up early for a morning Bushwalk to see the sun rise over the mountains. Our Bush Dinner is a must as well – there is nothing quite like dining in the bush surrounded by only the sound of nature.”

ABIGAIL | Junior Manager

Abigail Lourens, our Junior Manager, is one of the friendly faces that welcome you to Tomjachu when you arrive. She has been with us for 6 months, and has already taken on so much responsibility and the guests just love her!

She is in charge of reservations and reception, welcoming and checking-out guests, hosting at meal times, and always ensuring guests are happy and that their needs are met. She also assists with the running of the Housekeeping department and relieving senior management when off duty.

In her spare time she enjoys reading, watching her favourite series and even does embroidery!

Abigail recently got engaged to Marinus who is our Field Guide and Maintenance Assistant. They got engaged at Tomjachu. We are thrilled and wish them all the happiness in their lives together!

What would Abigail recommend at Tomjachu?

“I would definitely recommend the Lapa Bush Dinner Experience, its a must do! And having a massage treatment in the afternoon at your cottage or room to relax.”

FLONNY | Chef

Chef Flonny has been at Tomjachu for 8 years! She started out as junior housekeeper and we promoted her to supervisor. Our dad, Brian, discovered that she has a passion for cooking and sent her on a cooking course.

She further enhanced her skills by learning from our other chefs over the years and now she is a full time chef at Tomjachu producing the most amazing food!

Flonny is not only loved for her wizardry in the kitchen, she is a great person and always has a smile on her face.
