Do you feel like you really need to get away from the city for a private, long weekend of fresh air and activity but you’d rather not break the bank? Why not plan a trip to Mpumalanga with a group of good friends, a couple of fishing rods, your walking boots to satisfy that yearning for nature?

There is no better way to recharge your batteries than by visiting Tomjachu Bush Retreat. We are located just outside (about 20 minutes drive) Mbombela (formally Nelspruit). With a wide range of outdoor activities, a spot of fishing at one of our secret dams armed with one of our delicious picnics, a few beers and some warm winter sunshine, you will feel a million dollars when you get back to the office on your return.

Our dams are not open to the public so you DO need to stay with us to enjoy them but this is what makes the whole excursion that much more exclusive and special. As soon as you arrive, we will let you in on all the other secret spots so that you can enjoy the ultimate seclusion that our little paradise offers, all to yourselves shared only with the local wildlife and an outstanding array of birdlife.

Expect to catch bass and bream in our South & Symphony Dams (bear in mind that being a nature reserve, we do practice a catch and release policy), or for those who prefer to let the fishermen do the work there are a number of picnic spots on the mown banks of the dam, shaded by the iconic African acacia trees,to read a book under or to simply take a nap.

Aside from fishing, we have a number of other wonderful activities such as scenic hikes on 15km of walking trails, mountain bike trails, bushwalks and nature drives, so there is certainly enough for the whole group to enjoy.

When it comes to our group accommodation, you will be completely wowed by our Valbonne Villa which sleeps a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 12 people, and commands the most spectacular views of the Mountains below.
