The festive season is nearly upon us and after a jam-packed year of dealing with the trials & tribulations of everyday life, it is time to unwind, recharge batteries and spend quality time with loved ones.
At Tomjachu Bush Retreat, you can do just that! If you have not yet booked a holiday for December, now is the time! Spend a peaceful Christmas or last minute December holiday with us and replenish your soul in the heart of the African bush. We will spoil you with good food, homely comforts, Christmas merriment, wonderful nature activities and friendly service.
The former family home of Gordon Fillery in 1986 is now run by his 3 grandsons Tom, Jack & Hugo and they have not only created a retreat to rejuvenate the soul, but have also put conservation at the heart of the matter by creating a diverse environment with a plethora of indigenous fauna and flora, to be appreciated by generations to come. What better place to unwind at the end of the year?
Situated in the heart of Mpumulanga amongst the rolling granite hills of the Lowveld, the range of activities to enjoy on the reserve (or further afield) are plenty. If it’s adventure you are after, clear the cobwebs and take a brisk hike to the top of zebra heights, book a safari in the Kruger National Park or grab one of our mountain bikes and get the adrenalin pumping. If you’d rather while the day away and sit quietly fishing at our dam, laze by the pool, watch birds or catch up on much needed sleep, then you can do that here too.
When it comes to Christmas dining, we have numerous eating venues to make your visit to our retreat even more special. Enjoy magical bush dinners under the twinkling stars (you can’t get more Christmassy than that), or tuck into a festive picnic basket under a shady tree at one of our secret picnic sites dotted around the reserve. Alternatively, you can join others for a sumptuous four-course meal of seasonal, home-grown and locally sourced organic ingredients in our intimate Homestead dining room. On Christmas day we always do something festive; a traditional Christmas dinner with a “Tomjachu twist”. Guests can also join us for Christmas drinks at the Homestead from 6 pm. Otherwise try one of our delicious homemade cottage meals and have dinner by candlelight in the privacy of your own cottage (self catering options are also available).
Let the staff at Tomjachu take care of you this December so that you get your well deserved break before heading home with lungs full of fresh air, lasting memories and enough energy to tackle the year ahead.
We still have limited last minute Christmas availability so check our accommodation options, our itinerary suggestions and get booking straight away to avoid disappointment.
There is nothing more you need to do….
