Elegant home-style cooking at The Homestead
In the warmth and comfort of The Homestead, you can get your taste buds jumping with a variety of flavours. Our menus embody home-style cooking with elegant flair using home-grown and locally sourced organic ingredients. Sit by the fire and enjoy canapés before a sumptuous three-course set menu dinner by candlelight in our cosy dining room or on our sweeping veranda.
Mornings offer both continental and cooked breakfast options, whether you prefer something wholesome and light or a hearty start to the day, all enjoyed against a dramatic mountain backdrop. Light lunches and picnic baskets are available by prior arrangement.
Bush Dinner Experience
Our Bush Dinner is a truly unforgettable experience. Watch the mountains turn pink in the fading sunset light on a nature drive before meandering down the valley to be welcomed by a crackling fire, and the scent of delicious food being prepared. Dinner is served under the canopy of the night sky with only the sounds of the trilling nightjars to enhance the tranquillity.

Picnic Baskets
For a memorable day out, we can prepare a picnic basket with sandwiches or wraps, fresh fruit, and home-made energy bars to take with you in on your hike or cycle around the property, where you can stop at one of our stunning picnic sites (see ‘Hidden Gems’) and re-energize.
We can also provide picnics for day trips and tours away from the property.

If you would like to eat in the comfort of your room we have a wonderful cottage meals menu. Our home-made, pre-prepared meals such as sustainably fished smoked trout pie, soup of the day, or a traditional South African braai (barbeque) pack can be delivered to your cottage, all you have to do is warm them up, open a bottle of our fine wine, and enjoy!
Tomjachu Wines
We have a unique and varied range of hand-selected award-winning wines in our cellar. All the wines in our cellar are produced in South Africa, mostly from small, family-owned vineyards, and many supporting conservation initiatives which reflect our own conservation ethos.

Delicious traditional meals and variety of wines to try.
We had a delicious meal at the lodge with traditional South African dishes. Their wine list was varied which meant we got to try many wines we’d not heard of before.
The staff were wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble for them and while we arrived as guest we left feeling like friends.
